Political Parties~Just HOW ignorant of hisory are they?

I recently had the need to call one of the political parties helpline,regarding teirr candidates in my area.
Talking to the (I presume trained) person there,they had NO idea that until 1969 the voting age in the UK was 21
This person sounded mature enough to know the above,but did not and was rather surprised by my information.
Not only this,but I got the feeling that he thought I was WRONG!
Well, that will be one party that won't get my vote.
If they can employ people who know so little about the voting system, and history, what will they know of government.
BTW don't ask which party it was,it could just as easily been any of them I am sure.

Apparently, in this coming election, women are allowed to vote as well.

I thought I'd been sent a Polling Card in error, but No! ... we can actually vote !!!

I remember it changing as I was looking forward to voting as I was 21 in 1969, then bugger me they let all these kids vote as well!!

I'm with the others that have said "does it matter"

What possible relevance would them knowing, or not knowing, when the age for voting changed in the 60's have on anything they are doing today.

Mr V should have given them a short test ...

1. In what year were women given the vote ?

2. What are the dates of the 4 Electoral Reform Acts ?

3. List the categories of person who are ineligible to vote.

4. Is The Queen allowed to vote in a General Election ?

I wouldn't vote for anyone who didn't score 100% !!!

to be fair, the person you were speaking to would have had to have been approximately 68 to have had personal experience of this!
as has been said before i can't really see how it matters that whoever you spoke to didn't know what the voting system was 50 years ago - surely it's enough they know what is relevant now/
