Purple tinge to lips and cheeks

My youngest has recently been in hospital overnight where he was treated for dehydration. He came out Friday night and whilst in hospital had (what seemed like) a load of tests done and nothing serious showed up. However, this morning my oldest son noticed that he had a purple tinge to his lips and cheeks (he wasn't cold and hadn't eaten any purple food). Should I book a doctor's appointment or wait and see if it happens again? Thanks

Purple usually means the child doesnt have enough oxygen in their blood. Get an appointment at docs because this could be a number of things

I looked it up on line and it said it could be heart problems but they hooked him tup o machines on Thursday/Friday at the hospital (put a plaster thing around his toe and it did his heartbeat and blood pressure, etc). I'm not 'up' on illnesses but I am not a panicky mam either.

No - he's relly healthy, up till now he has only ever had an eye infextion and bad ears (the ear thing runs in the family).

dont worry yourself looking it up on sites, the worst will always pop out at you. just get him to docs for a check up. Hope all goes ok, let us know x

Just to up-date you all. Rang NHS direct and the person I spoke to was very cautious on the phone but he was so concerned that he rang me back and infered that I should go to the doctors (he obviously has strict guidelines to follow). I had the little one checked out today and all is well. Thanks for your concern.
