After having 6 teeth out your gums will be sore, but why not take painkillers rather than rubbing something into your gums. Adcortyl is a steroid and I would not have thought advisable to use.
Ibuprofen 600mgms three times a day would seem to be a better deal.

Hi sqad
Thanks for your reply. Forgot to mention I have a full upper denture now, and it is this that's making the gum sore. (rubbing). Had some Adcortyl from the dentist when I had my bottom denture fitted and it worked really well.

FB...thanks, I still think that persevering with a tablet rather than a cream is the answer.
Good luck.
The closest alternative is Corlan Pellets (A Steroid Pellet to be dissolved against the mouth ulcer)

Anbesol liquid - it's not as good at getting rid of the ulcer as adcortyl - gets rid of pain a right treat though!

I would also suggest going to a dentist and asking them.
If the denture is causing a 'traumatic' ulcer, then this needs to be adjusted by your dentist ASAP. They can also checked that you do not have a localised osteitis ('dry socket' after any of the extractions which can also give post-operative pain. In the meantime, simply rinsing with warm salt water or Chlorhexidine 0.2% (available from any chemist non-prescription) will help, as will Sqad's suggestion of taking 'painkiller'. There is no indication to use a steroid rinse/pastillles at this stage.
