Film titles

Got into a discussion yesterday about a coulpe of films that nobody else seemed to remember (fairly short discussion obviously!).  Anyway, I really would like to know the names of these two films if anyone can help:

1)  The first film involved some guy in a space shuttle going back in time to the middle ages (I think).  Don't remember much else except that they built a huge bonfire type thing to help him lift off at the end (I think!)

2)  Second film I watched when I got back from the pub a few years ago.  Seem to remember it starring Dennis Quaid (or a similar type of actor)  It was about some guy who gets poisoned at the beginning of the film as as it progesses the colour fades to black and white.  Think it may be a bit cult-y but all I remember is that after a few jars it kinda freaked me out!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers guys! DOA's definitely the film I'm thinking of and I reckon the spaceman and king arthur sounds about right too.  Always nice to know that your not crazy, imagining strange films!
