if there isnt a job you can go for then you should still be allowed it. But if there is a job you can go for and you go voluntary then doubt it. You could aleays ask your boss if it is helping them that they make you redundant and they write a letter stating that for any job seekers allowance or mortgage insurance etc

You definitely will not be able to claim JSA during the 'notice period' element of the redundancy payment, and very likely you will not be able to claim until the expiry of the TOTAL number of weeks' worth of severance payment you have received.
well yes I know you cant claim jobseekers during notice as I am in my 12 weeks notice period at moment after being made redundant. I was just answering the question as they didnt mention notice.
people in our office asked for a letter from company to say they hadnt gone for job as it wasnt the same job and they were made redundant rather than volunteered
not like mine, I went for job but didnt get it and other girl went voluntary. I left after a week, she was told to leave after a month coz gets paid monthly and have recently been told she's been asked to stay on as they are too busy now!!

Every voluntary redundancy agreement will have a notice period included as part of it .
It is inconceivable that an employer would say "here's a bucket of money to walk away - oh, and by the way, could you also work the next 8 weeks before you go as that's your notice period you need to work".
