Does anyone know what bank uses the sort code 44-84-48. I have done a search on the internet and cannot find it and my local branch will not let me know who this is.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi There

When I worked in Local Govt. finance we were issued the sorting code directory every year.  This was to enable us to set up DDs for say Council Tax etc.  I believe they are standard issue so if you know anyone in a similar position they may be able to get their hands on one.

I am surprised that the bank has been so awkward because its not a trade secret!  I think you just had a jobs worth on your hands, I think the directories can be bought by anyone but obviously you only need it once so it seems a waste of money!

try http://www.sortingcodes.co.uk it is a pay service, but there appears to be the possibility of a free trial.  Not sure whether this would be suitable.
The sort code doesn't seem to exist. Just looked on www.sortingcodes.co.uk as i have access to it at work and it says no matches found.

It's for Midland Bank (who are now HSBC)
