I do groom my cat every now and then, but it is still looking rather scruffy and unhealthy,is it a good idea to try to give her some cod liver oil too make it look healthier?

Any time my cats have looked a bit dishevelled it's either been a sign they've not been very well or it's old age - either way they haven't been grooming themselves properly. If she's old then I wouldn't worry too much as she may just be less able to reach some places, but if she's a younger cat have a wee check that she's eating and seems ok in general as it might be a sign she's not very well.
Good link pasta - but it does say "large quantities" against some of the risky items so I wouldn't worry about the odd tin of human tuna. Poodi, you can also buy Hi-life tuna flakes which is formulated for cats, and mine love it. A flat round tin does all three of them, it's quite filling (and smelly).
My cat has tinned fish every week....the vet said it was fine to give him any tinned fish. He has dry food in the morning and tuna or crab in the evening. He's very glossy.....
You could give her a bath.....at your own risk of course. The vet also said it's perfectly fine to bath a cat. Brian's had three now and doesn't seem that bothered by them.
