Shell pots
3 Answers
When I was little we used to stick sea shells on bottles and pots, then varnish them and either have them in the house as ornaments or outside with plants in. We thought they were very stylish, but now they seem a bit naff - however, we have a mountain of sea shells from various holidays and I thought it might amuse my children to make some. Problem is, I can't remember what we used to use to stick the shells on with - can anybody remember? I recall putting food colouring into whatever it was to vary the colour (we were very inventive in the 70s!)

I used to make little tortoise figures out of limpet shells and crinoline ladies out of other shells, but the glue had to be strong to hold the weight of the shells, but it was a horrible gungy glue that went hard and brown and didn't look very nice if you happened to get it where you shouldn't on the figures. Hope the kids have fun anyway.
