There is no mention of me even getting expenses in my contract so not sure how to solve this. For my job i have to do a lot of travelling, but i am only allowed to claim 100 miles per journey, despite often doing journeys of up to 300-400, is this legal? I am part of the union, should i go to them? It's a bitter pill to swlalow doing all the travelling knowing i won't get the money i am having to spend out...

You should definitely contact your union.  It seems very unfair that you're expected to spend your own money travelling on business.

You can claim back mileage directly from the tax office at the year i end. I think.

Ask your boss what the reason is. Ask your union representative.

Are you driving a company car ??  If not are you insured for business use as you might find if you had an accident your insurance company would claim that you did not inform them ???
