Much as it grieves me to say so, Brown is still the PM and will remain so until such time as he can no longer command a majority in the H of C. Tough, I know, but that's how it works.

so what is the point of the elections if the winner doesn't get in and told by mr brown he has no right to govern :s

That's the problem with the constitution. There is no winner here.
Has to be a given majority to win.
About time proportional representation was looked at properly again .. and put into place properly.
PR would probably give the same indecisive result at every election. The Tories did fantastically well to win the number of seats they did, and had it not been for local factors in certain constituencies, might well have managed to cross the magic threshold. As it is, we must wait for the outcome of any negotiations, or the result of another general election, which cannot be too far away.
o and leave the country without a parliament -now for as much as some might think they are useless it wouldnt be sensible apart from it being against the constitution
