Why do people keep asking if a question is a Quizmail question. what is the relevance?

Because, Jacey, there are some people who feel the necessity, for some reason, to police answerbank. Anyone who asks a question, or answers is subjected to verbal abuse.

If you see anything that says Quizmail avoid like the plague .
Not worth getting involved.Some appreciate you giving an answer others just want a clue.Others as denise says police the AB and give you grief if you give an answer.It all gets rather heated at times.It's only a quiz after all said and done .

As many people do Quizmail it helps them out by knowing that question 51 has been answered - save spamming the site every other day with the same question. Equally some quizmailers help out others and so look out for quizmail questions.

However, some people are lazy and post anyway, without bothering to look if a question has already been asked/answered even though there is that lovely search facility on the left. And so, as said above, people have in the past been 'attacked' for over-using the site or asking 'too many' questions. Though whether its abusive is down to each individual's intereptation.

We know have our own section on a different site though (ssh!)

Also a lot of people point out that they are Quizmail questions, so as the person posting 'doesn't get away with asking for help' - if you see what I mean.  This may be petty but then if its clear its a quizmail question then all participants can see and so get any help offered.

Don't worry about answering a quizmail question on here, as if anyone get stick then its the askers and not the answerer (as pointed out above). Though I advise giving a clue instead of a direct answer as it annoys many who have spent weeks looking for an answer to have it just revealed willy nilly on here!!

Mornin' all, can someone tell me what a Quizmail question is, I have no idea. I use the site to help with answers for crosswords,for which I am very grateful, and try to help others when they are stuck.

Quizmail is a postal quiz in the UK that people pay to play and could win a cash prize for topping their league.

Following on from mldr79's answer, it costs something like �14 to enter and if you win your league, you get something like �20, so its done for the fun rather than the money really, this is why I believe people dont wish the answers revealed, the whole charm of it is discovering the "traps" yourself whether you win or lose.- if anyone wanted to do it for the money it wouldnt be worth their while:-)
