Where is the strangest place you've had someone chat you up?

I was at a petrol station last week and when getting into my car this guy was waving frantically and I just assumed I knew him. I rolled down my window and asked if I knew him. His reply was "nope but i'd love to get to know you and then asked how i was". ...ha! Sweet! Never been chatted up in a petrol station before. There's a 1st for everything I suppose. xxxx

I was once stuck in a traffic jam on the M3 for about half an hour. Once the traffic started move normally this guy came up on the inside lane and held a piece of paper up that said 'fancy a coffee'. I quickly smiled across and nodded to say no. He dropped back and within 5 mins came up along side with a piece of paper that said 'your loss' !!
I don't know about being chatted up,but I chatted my future(and still) wife up in a bomb crater!
This was in Germany in 1948.
I was in the Army, and she (beautiful creature) was scraping/scrambling through the bomb crater to find, well, anything.
Anything that could be sold to buy food.
Her English was minimal,my German also, but somehow we managed to converse, and are still conversing.
Correction:~She is talking,and I am listening! LOL

In hospital about four half years ago! I was in a wheelchair in a hospital gown, my hair hadn't seen a roller in weeks...and my face hadn't seen a lick of make-up, and I was wheeling myself down a corridor to go to the dayroom, and this guy was lying on his side on a trolley. He smiled and said hello, I said hello back, then he moved his leg and winced, I asked if he was alright and he said, I will be, if you come out to dinner with me! I told him I was happily married and he said, I didn't ask you that, and I'm not inviting your husband! I just giggled and asked him what he'd done - he said he was trying to deliver a parcel and a dog bit him on the bum. Anyway I carried on to the dayroom and thought no more about it, until later a nurse came and gave me a slip of paper with his phone number on it! I never contacted him.

Zammo you need to be very careful on this one... and not being funny. There have been warnings going round for ages on email about guys who chat you up in petrol stations and ask you to smell perfume - which isn't - and the next thing you know you are in the back of a stranger's car - I won't go into the detail.
Your chap might well be 100% innocent but this warning has stuck in the back of my mind for a long time now.
about 20 years ago I was dishing out giros in a DSS office. one guy asked me out, I looked at his giro and said "no thanks!"

fortunately he laughed, too ;o)
Yes tony we were,
This was after the war had finished, and basically we were there to stop the social structure from collapsing.
We were also there to stop looting, which is a laugh as there wasn't really anything TO loot.
If you mean were were allowed to fraternise socially?
Well, it was a very grey area.
On the one hand NO we shouldn't fraternise with the local population,as were there to maintain the status quo.
On the other hand we need to socialise with the local population to gain their confidence in keeping social order.
So I suppose we sort of tried to fall in the middle.
I suppose I fraternised as much as you could,I married Elsie in 1949! LOL
I was chatted up by a blind man on a bus!!
I guess the strangest one was when I was about 18 years old and on my way to a job interview when someone driving past stopped, wound down his window and asked if I wanted to go for coffee with him. I was astonished but managed to politely decline before he said, "Oh well, some other time." and drove away.

Just over a year ago I met an American guy in London who'd just got back from Afghanistan and he asked if he could take me out to dinner. I made various excuses including, "I live in Spain" blah blah blah. He offered to fly to Spain to take me out to dinner, which was very flattering, but I eventually gave him the brush off. I kinda regretted it the next day. Anyway, that was at a train station, so not that unusual a place.
