I have come up with a system of voting which I believe would solve all political problems at a stroke.
I call it the Single Sliceable Vote, and it would have the following advantages:

Solve MP corruption once and for all.
Prevent dramatic policy swings from one government to the next.
Reduce the centralisation of power.
Encourage only the really dedicated to stand for Parliament.

As an example, lets say that in a particular constituency 40% vote Tory, 35% percent vote Labour, and 25% vot LibDem.

You take a 40% slice of the Tory candidate (he can choose which part), a 35% slice of the Labour candidate (he too can choose which part, but obviously excluding the part chosen by the Tory candidate), and a 25% slice of the LIberal candidate, and pack them all off to parliament.

So do I understand this right?

We can take say the brain of a Tory, with a hand of Labour and the genitals of Mr Clegg?

Sounds alright that.

Clearly not.
The object is to end up with a pile of non-functioning meat.

So not dissimilar to what we have in government the rest of the time then?

Except that there will be no expenses claims
rojash - genius but lets forget th whole election business and appoint yourself as dictator!
apparently Labour MPs who made big expenses claims, or even the candidates who replaced them, had much bigger swings against them than Tories in the same position. I read this a day or two ago but can't find a link, alas. Perhaps Tory voters are more forgiving people. If they have duck islands themselves, they will understand.
