Thanks to everyone who answered my 'music downoad' Question - I've gone with WinMX, but it's 'Help' screen isn't up yet so - I've requested a track, and it says 'Remotely queued 37' which I assume means I'm 37th in the download queue - am I right, and what happens now? Obviously I have to shut down my PC - do i stay in the queue? All assistance gratefully received.
It must be an obscure track then andy? either that or you have picked someone with loads of MP3's and they have a big queue...either way if you can't find another user with the song you want you'll have to wait in the queue till the 36 users in front of you have downloaded the songs they want....if it's something special post back i have over 2,300 files at the minute so i might be able to help out.
Thanks sft42 - what I really need to know is - do i have to wait on line, which will take ages, i waited twenty minutes, to move up to 39 in the queue, or otherwise, how else do I find the same song on the site? It was Janet Kay's 'Silly Games' 12" I was after, so to save time, how do I use the site to maximum effect - there doesn't seem to be any instructions on what to do! Thanks again.
ok..i understand now...it's not that obscure so you must just have caught a time when their wasn't many users online with that song about....if you hit the search button after about 10 minutes you may well find many more users about with that track....i have it if you want it i'll stick it in my share folder and you can send me a message if you want it and i'll start you up if i'm at the computer. if you post a reply with any other track you want i'll share them as well or if you want email me with a list and i'll do a CD full of stuff for you.....it's the least the TOP person on the answerbank deserves
just realised i missed a bit out of my last reply....yes you have to wait if you can't find more matches....but if you keep hitting search every 10 to 15 minutes and select all the ones that you can find to download then just delete them once you have got the track your wanting, it's just a case of finding a user with the track and getting downloading before others get there.
Hi again sft42 - thanks so much for your patience, and your compliment! I would love to have you burn a disc for me, and I will be happy to return an 'eclectic' disc in return, if you wish. How do i get your e-mail? I imagine the Site Owners will be unimpressed if we start popping personal e-mail addresses here - if you know a way we can get in touch, please let me know.
Thanks for that - I'm signed up and awaiting my membership there - should be online tomorrow, so I'll see some of you there no doubt. More by accident than design, I've managed to download my Janet Kay track - I've got the bug now - here comes a few thousand more tunes for my collection - perhaps someone could take over my job / have my food sent in / explain to my wife ......!
