OK I reckon FPTP is the best system but a few of tweaks are needed:
1. Each constituency should be roughly the same number of people
2. Anyone who is fit and well but not contributing to society should not have the vote.
3. Prisoners should never have the vote, despite the ooman rights act/EU meddling
4. Postal voting should be abolished (obviously keep current arrangements for forces etc)
5. I realise that 15 hours is not long enough for some so voting should take place over a weekend to give plenty of time.
6. Some sort of independent boundry commission should be set up to replace the current electoral commission which is abused by the incumbant government.
So what do you think of the Geezer party reforms?

I'm asking sbout a person who has worked and then has to claim JSA, why should that person not be allowed to vote?

Obviously TCL the system would need thrashing out and refining. A job for the civil sevants to implement. The general intention is clear but there will always be exceptional cases that the system needs to accomodate. Think of this as a green paper, the detail is to follow in the white paper.
R1Geezer you show me where i have said that and i will vote tory

don't hold your breath while you look

do you work for the sport newspaper ?
<Obviously some refinement of the parameters is needed but I think it is clear what is intended here. .>

Very clear.

You wish to deny the vote to certain categories of people you wish didn't exist.

Care to think of a few more categories?

<So what do you think of the Geezer party reforms?>

They stink. With the possible exception of longer polling hours.

Well DrFilth you didnt say it directly but this statement by you:
"and if the tory party are still unable to win the next election will you want to change the rules again ? "
seems to imply that you think work shy layabouts don't vote Tory

so dzug, you are quite happy to work (I assume you do) to keep scroungers and are also happy for them to negate your vote by voting for the party that is most likely to deliver un uninterupted supply of white lightening, right oh!
so geezer with you saying this, you intend to add a few more to your list
( Obviously TCL the system would need thrashing out and refining )

i could say you think no working class person should vote , no women unless they are members of the local hunt
First Near The Post is wholly discredited for anything other than a two-party race.

You can polish sh1t as much as you like, it's still sh1t!

DrFilth, make no assumptions about me, you describe yourself, you sound like you can afford to be a lefty, I can't, I'm from a council estate family with criminal useless parents. I worked my way out, i'm not posh by any stretch. I realise you expect me to be a lefty with this back ground but my background is exactly why I'm not, Everyone has at least the same chance as me.
geezer do you know me , NO

i have the one thing money cannot buy
poverty

if coal miners went fox hunting it would have been banned years ago
But, DF, coal miners keep ferrets for hunting rabbits and small rodents and this practice has existed for far longer than foxhunting (and indeed far longer than that now almost extinct species, the coal miner).

But nobody has suggested banning these harmless leisure activities.
Everybody doesn't have the same chances as you Geezer

You're healthy and born reasonably intelligent
i will think of an answer while i am out with my whippets
2) Who decides who is not contributing to society?

4) I would have thought you would be happy with postal voting as it appearsthe people closest to your political ideals benifited last time out.

5) 15 hours has always been plenty in the past.

6) Fine as long as they also change the changes made under the tories to ensure that they kept the home counties.

Jake:
"Everybody doesn't have the same chances as you Geezer
You're healthy and born reasonably intelligent "
you spend most of the time telling me how stupid I am because I don't agree with you so I'll take that as a huge compliment, cheers!
No Geezer I don't think you're stupid - I do though think you could occasionally ask yourself why you have the opinions that you do and whether you might be wrong
The Geezer wrong? Don't be ridiculous, jake!

Before we know it you'll be questioning some of my thoughts and opinions! And how absurd would that be?
