my beautiful pet rabbit is nursing her second litter of eight healthy babies. They are a week old and she already has three, five week old babies too.

She is an amazing mum, and has really looked after the all her gorgeous babies.

Today though, she is sat in the corner of her cage and looks very sad.
She fed them in the night so they are ok, but she hasn't eaten anything today, not even a dandelion or a cauliflower leaf (her favourite).

Next door are having a new roof on, (we are a block of 4 bungalows) and when i came home from work, there were some almighty bangs and thuds. Could the noise have made her anxious and scared enough to upset her?
I'm worried whether she will feed them tonight. how can she when she hasn't eaten anything herself?

if i was you i would give the vet a ring and ask them she might be suffering from lack of calicum if she is feeding that lot, i love bunnys my son used to breed them when he was younger ,hope she is feeling brighter soon xx

agree with the above post - maybe ring a vet for advice too.

It may very well be caused by the banging at the neighbours, but that is something you have to put up with when you have pets in a buildup area. It really is no wonder that she is down, the poor thing is probably drained of energy and may not have been in tip top condition before the initial litter. You should really have removed the buck when she had her first litter, and she is probably pregnant again now.

Hmmm, not sure if you are suggesting that I have not been a responsible owner, wildwood!
I hope not because i would be more than a little cross!

My rabbit was in tip top condition before her first litter. She lived happily with her (so we were told) SISTER. The first we knew that one of our shes was a he, was when we found a nest with four babies!
We bought another hutch, removed the buck immediately and had him neutured within the week. Unfortunately, as I'm sure you know, they get pregnant the same day that they give birth.
Four weeks and a day later, she has eight babies.
The buck is still in quarantine, and we are doing everything we can to help her.

Just shows how we shouldn't jump to conclusions on this site. I hope she will be OK. What are you going to do with all these babies!!

hi, thank you for asking!
Mum is absolutely fine now - she just must have been unnerved by those roofers.
They haven't been today, so that's good.
All eight are doing really well. They are absolutely adorable!
How do I put pictures on here?
If someone can explain how i do it, i'll gladly send you some. x
