I'm sorry to hear you've just found out you are diabetic, but there are loads of people who are diabetic and I would not think insurance companies could charge you more for this, but you MUST tell them. If you were to have an accident and it came out it could invalidate your insurance.
You must also inform the DVLA. I am diabetic and I know what you are going through. Dont worry it does not take too long to learn to live with it. I got a lot of support from diabetes UK and my local diabetes health team.
Hi bernie6969

I asked a guy at work about insurance as he is diabetic, he said he had to inform DVLA and his insurance company.
He said his insurance went up by 100.
Maybe there is a company that insures diabetic drivers with a favourable rate
Hi there, good luck, generally speaking you may need to complete a diabetic questionnaire (via the DVLA) but as long as its controlled (by either diet or insulin) they shouldn't really charge you any more for cover - I work in insurance, but not private car im sorry, I do deal with fleet cases though and this would be the situation - Insurers would be regarded as prejudicial if they charged more.
