this is a daft question I know - but when you say clear internet history - am I doing it correctly? What exactly do you mean - as in what do I click on and where?

Well I click on 'Tools' and then click on 'Delete Browsing History' which brings up some options and I usually just delete all.

The Ed has given me the answer. Apparently, everything turns out OK in the end if you are patient. (but I still don't fully understand why!)
