does anyone know the ingredients for a hot toddy? I know it's whisky and hot water but not sure what else or in what proportions. Does it really help with a cold?

It's usually Whisky Hot water sugar and lemon.I have a couple every night and very very rarely get a cold.

Thanks, how do I know how much of each, or is it a case of trial and error to see what tastes best?
Whisky one is lovely...I often make one of an evening. Also my brother recommended this once when I had a cold.Dark rum, brown sugar, lemon, cinnamon and hot water.

Great website! I will be trying a few of those, cheers!
Nothing to beat trial and error......you soon forget the cold!
Quite true!! Slosh it in and swig it down!!
my dad usually makes them with brandy, juice of one lemon, couple of teaspoons of honey and hot water. They always seem to make me feel better but i think that's more to do with my dad's over generous pouring of the brandy. i usuually have one in the evening and sleep soundly.

Whisky,Honey and Lemsip filled up with hot water.Works a treat - takes your mind off the misery and you dont half sweat it out.

Not Lemsip - what a twit - you would probably be unconcious.I meant Jif Lemon of course!!!Sorry.
