my daughter has her school prom in a couple of weeks and we've been looking at hiring a limo. some of the parents have backed out (mostly the really well-off ones!) saying it's too expensive, so now it's really quite expensive to split between the 5 that are left.

I considered presenting myself at the local fire station to see if they'd take them in a fire engine but, a) they may tell me off for being so stupid, b) they may not be legally covered for such thing and c) they may have a proper emergency come the event!

does anyone have any ideas please?

Our local fire station is also the local vintage fire engine preservation group...I believe that this is often the case and they do use the vintage vehicles to raise money for charity....worth an ask?

umm would a local ice cream van carry the girls....he might do some business at the prom too
When my nephew got married - he arrived in a Yellow American Taxi - I don't think it cost that much.
What about contacting your local police force and seeing if they'd drop the girls off in a meat wagon? It would be funny to have them pull up with sirens wailing and watch everyones face as they climb out the back?

woofgang, I think that would be a legal issue, too :o/

bob..... ooooh, I know a man to ask!
See if your mate can pull some strings and go the whole hog with motor bike escorts etc
what area do you live in Sara ?
Have you got a nearby transport museum, sara? We hired a vintage open-top bus and driver for our wedding, it was brilliant - and they did have coaches and smaller vehicles. Old milk floats are fun (ah, the days of going out with the milkman in the school holidays!)

or since we've mentioned motor bike escorts - get the local Hells Angels to take the girls in sidecars, now that would be different!
Is there only me who reads this in the recent post thingy over there > as "Imaginative p0rn..."?
