ok, if the earth is spinning and is potentially slowing down, will it stop and spin back the other way, and if so hows that going to affect us. I hear tales in mayan myth and in the talmud/ old testament, that it's supposed to have happened already in the past. Any ideas?
Well assuming for a minute that it is slowing down then when it get's slow enough it will tidally lock with the sun, similar to the way that the moon is tidally locked with the earth. It will not go to spinning the other way. The same side will then always face the sun and we will enjoy the vast climate change that would bring.
MargeB is currently under heavy attack from several posters on the god vs science thread a bit further down this page. Don't think he has the will to argue with anyone else at the moment!
sorry marge, i hadnt realised that the whole evolution debate thing was still running when i posted my question, it was getting a bit heated in that one, i only read it today at work, personally, i'm anti science to a degree, i think it can tend to be a bit too dismissive, but kudos to you for fending off three fronts of crusaders at the weekend.
I stopped reading that thread when it got to over 100 posts!
Well that, and the same question being asked 8 times and never answered. "Where exactly in the Bible does it say...."
