Car boot sale Part 2 - Conclusion!

Well we went to the car boot sale, there for 6.30am and only stayed until 10.30am - Im well and truly knackered now!

Made £90 so Im happy - not bad for 4 hours work!

It's the best kind of recycling! the profitable kind and less hassle that ebay in alot of ways!!! did you get pounced on by the regular traders first thing?

oh dot, never seen anything like it! im quite intolerant at the best of times, but wow!, they were something else - one of them was practically IN the boot!

Once we'd got over the initial 15 minutes or so, it was a good laugh. but in those first few minutes, i just wanted to tell everyone to fluff off!

Thing is they don't necessarily rip you off, just guarantee you a sale, they always spot the new comers and try to take advantage, but refusing an offer sometimes leaves you with the items.

one guy in particular waited until he'd seen everything then shrugged his shoulders and left!

youre right tho, its an excellent way to de-clutter when you cant be bothered with ebay, definitely be doing it again, although id have to bribe OH to join me!

Thats what you have to watch jb - when you are setting your stall up the other traders will literally take your car apart looking for cheap stuff to sell at a larger price on their stall. Eagle eyes are needed.

Used to do boot sales, had a lot of fun but you are right it is knackering.

Amazed what I have seen people selling stuff at boot sales for.
Some stuff is just modern but cheap ...i.e. A set of six large coffee mugs. John Lewis stickers on them. New. £2 for the six ...back home and after a quick wash in the dish washer ....
Another time ...walked to a stall , that had been out for about 1 hour.
He had a black Bakelite telephone dated 1937.
Pyramid shape with no bell type.
Perfect condition.
How much I said ? £40 he said ...got it for £30 ....
Err ...if he knew it was worth selling it for £30 ...then why did he not know it was worth £180-£220 ????
Had it converted and bell fitted for £30 ...will be on e-bay next week for £200 ish ....

You obviously have an eye for it Randy. I have a friend who literally gave her job up and tours the boots sales and puts in on Ebay - she has made a mint.

Afternoon Red - I love parking at Boot Sales - a massive field................ha ha

I always look at the stall holders and if they look chavvy I just move on to the nice, clean families with children or teens who are obviously trying to sell their genuine clean household goods.
