Pay 4 new freesat card

I signed up with sky for 1 year & cancelled when the year was up,I was told I'd get to keep the box & get to enjoy freesat then I lost itv1 so phoned sky which they told me I need to phone freesat when I phoned freesat I was told I'd need a new card but would have to pay £20.maybe I'm being a bit over the top with this but doesn't free mean you pay nothing plus I pay a tv licence so why am I having to pay extra charges
can anyone tell if they have had the same problem & what the answer would be as still have no itv1

yes i had the same problem, i bought a new samsung tv with freeview and so after 6 years i ditched sky, but after a bit i got fed up with the freeview and plugged the sky box baCK IN ( THE NEW ONE THEY GAVE US WHEN WE MOVED) anyway a warning kept coming up on channel 5 and then channel 4 saying we would be losing the channel soon and so i rang sky up, after paying them a monthly fee since we got it for my youngest sons 14th birthday (he's 24 this year) they said that that was the only way we could use it, but this card for a one off fee, i'll not tell you what i told them, but anyway, i immediately unplugged the sky box and sorted the freeview out, Sky can get stood on,

actually we must have had sky alot longer than that but they didn;t care, when i told them I'd be putting the digi box on the tip they just ignored me, bastards

We had a similar problem with another provider when our modem packed in. We were told we`d have to pay for a new one. We`d been customers with them for years, and not once had we rang with any comlaint. Hubby played hell with them & in the end told them where to put their modem !!!!

Thanks guy I also told them where to go I can't belive people pay for things then they try to get more money out of us , well I'm not leaving it I'm going to dig deeper my local radio station has a consumer program so might ring them when all else fails to see what they think
