Scanners side by side.

I have purchased an all-in-one printer.

Will I still be able to run my independent flat-bed scanner, side by side the scanner on the all-in-one?

The reason I ask this is because the flat-bed has facilities to scan slides and negatives, whereas the all-in-one hasn't.

as long as you've got enough USB ports, you'll have no problems.

Further, assuming that both devices use 'TWAIN' drivers, you should find that the software which came with one device should accept data from the other. So if your flat bed scanner came with a good photo-manipulation program, which you like using, you can still use that to import images from your new device. (You don't have to use the software which came with the new scanner. You can simply use the 'select source' menu with the old software).

Thanks Chris. Will I be able to use the software that comes with the new scanner because I think this has more advanced features?
Nearly all scanners use TWAIN drivers, which can be recognised by any decent photo manipulation software. So you can use your old software, your new software, Photoshop, GIMP or just about anything else to import images directly from either scanner.
