Greetings each.
I woke up this morning (fortunately) with the theme tune to this old programme running through my head.
Whilst I can play it fluently on keyboard/organ, I cannot for the life of me remember the ruddy title of it.
Any ideas please?
Be good!
Cheers.

I believe(but am not sure) that it was called "Soldiers in the Park" from the light musical "The Runaway Girl" by Lionel Monckton? Composed sometime at the end of the 19thC.
Here is a modern recording of it from YouTube,I hope it matches you thoughts?

Mr Veritas is correct, although Monckton only wrote the additional music for it.

There is a brass band arrangement, called 'Come, listen to the band' that makes much more of the theme that kicks in at 0:40 in this recording - probably why it was the theme to the programme.

Lovely stuff, though. I love a good march.
