Buying Plants On-line

Have any of the gardeners on here bought plants from Crocus? (see here)  Are they reliable & good quality/sized plants?

I gave my mum vouchers for her christmas and she was thrilled when her plants arrived. Nice and big and healthy!

Wow that was so quick - thank you lilyfrog!  You hear  many people say they've bought mail order plants that have arrived no bigger than cuttings!  The thing is how not to order a lorry load, they have such a variety!

It took my mum agees to decide what she wanted too but in the end she got some lovely stuff, have fun planting!

i bought my mum a lime tree from crocus, and it promtly died :(  i think it may have something to do with the cruddy cold weather we had though!

I ordered my Aunt & Uncle a rose bush for their Golden Wedding Anniversary from Crocus. It arrived very quickly and they say it is in good condition, healthy and thriving.

have just taken a look no i havnt had plants from them..as the others say they are okay but they are not exactly cheap..well the herbs are overpriced..if you want any specialist herbs try barwinnock herbs they sell them for�1.50 each and i have used them for years..i hadnt heard of this company at all..

mullein it's true some of the plants on there are a bit pricey but others seem quite reasonable.  It's like most garden centres - swings & roundabouts.  I wouldn't be buying herbs anyway, I can get quite a good selection from local outlets but thanks for the recommendation - I just might give them a whirl too!

if you find any more good garden sites post them so i can look..as i am plant mad...the garden is bursting at its seams..robina did your bronze fennell survive?

It did survive mullein & is now wafting in the sunny breeze - about a metre high which is pretty good I think as it was only a little plant!! It's had a few flowers but I'm nipping some of them off before it seeds!  I haven't had any sweet cecily for about 8 or more years but I found one growing near the hedge a few days ago so I'll have to move it to a better place - it's amazing how seeds lie & suddenly grow!  Apparently a concoction of the roots will protect against the plague - so that's alright then!

Robinia I always use thompson & morgan, I find them really good and prompt,and you get lots of deals on buy 10 get 10 free for example. I have seen the crocus brochure but end up using t&m every time.

Yes thanks lozzzz they are very good for seeds and plants but unfortunately not so good on shrubs & the more unusual plants.  I always send for their seed catalogue to browse during the winter armchair gardening days!
