You've told us the make and model of your printer, but it's your camera that wants you to format the card. What's the make and model of the camera?

the cameras are: kodak C X4320

hp photosmart M425 thanks for your interest
Difficult to explain, so I've posted a screen shot of the appropriate page from the manual here:

Incidentally, if you've lost the manual, you can download it from here: http://tinyurl.com/25b4rcb
Obviously those replies referred to the HP. I can't find a Kodak CX4320, did you mean 4230?
This seems to apply to most Kodak models:

Do the following:

1. Insert the memory card into the camera. Make sure the card is firmly seated (push in the card until it clicks into place).
2. Turn on the camera.
3. Press the Menu button, then go to the Setup Menu.
4. Scroll up or down to the Format option, then press the OK button.
5. Follow the prompts to format the memory card.
