I think the small town is Stratton but can only come up with The Atlantic Coast Express for the "titled express" Any ideas please? Ta

The Atlantic coast express is the answer, however don't think small town is Stratton
I think town begins with an H....

Stratton is the site of the battlefield. To get to the small town you need to reverse the directions that the setter took to get to Stratton, i.e. back 5 miles east-northeast and then back 4 miles south-southeast.
