Finished width is 850mm in 4" brickwork with metal clad sockets and DPM around the outside. I have side entry, so only 12 ft long. No problem as you can move car to suit.
3'6" deep, as it is a sitting down pit. I have a low bench to sit on.
Been using for over 10 years now since I built, and I would only go 6" deeper if I was doing again.
Top is covered flush to the floor with 2" boards, each with 3" overlap onto top of brickwork (Shuttered around when the floor was laid and trowelled up.
Put a couple of soakaway holes using 40mm waste into rubble underneath floor, incase gets flooded.
