I went for a check earlier as I've been having problems with my current dailies (getting lots of headaches and discomfort).

She has given me a week trial of silicone hydrogel ones and updated my prescription.

I put them in at the check and she checked them over and off I went, very impressed with the vision and comfort.

Got home and tried to take them out and OMG, took me ages and some eyedrops to try and wash them out and very very sore eyes later I managed it, it was like they were stuck in.

It's put me off trying them in again in case the same happens. I really don't want to risk damaging my eyes.

I was wondering if anyone else had experienced similar problems.

Am hoping to try them again tomorrow and if the same happens I'll try and get back to the opticians sooner.

Hi, I've not tried those lenses I had a similar experience with hard lenses years ago - never again!! Couldnt get them out for hours, it was agony!! I went straight onto the soft lenses and have worn them ever since! I get mine from Specsavers and it only costs me £10 per month with solution (for a months supply) and with free check ups to! Good luck tomorrow!!!

I've never tried hard ones and never had that problem with soft ones (worn them since I was 14 so about 17 years) save when they have split or I had an allergic reaction to something like horsehair.

I was really worried at one point as I just couldn't shift them and my eyes were in agony.

I did wonder when she said they were the same stuff as the ones you wear constantly as my eyes produce too much stuff to be able to see much after a bit but she said it's different with them being dailies and she wears them herself.

Am hoping it was a blip so will see how tomorrow goes.
I tried every sort of lens over many years, before having to give up.

However I did try hard lenses first. They were the easiest to take out, yelenots.

You just pulled the side of your eye to put tension on the upper and lower lids, and blinked. They came out like a bullet.

Ping! Haha :) Sorry, just the idea of it! I can't imagine having hard ones in.

I can usually whip them out (the lenses haha) anywhere but these were just like they had been stuck on!

I have pretty long nails as well so have to be really careful too...I will persevere though and hope not to be back on here again tomorrow having had more of the same :)

Thanks for answering, much appreciated.
Because silicon hydrogel lenses can be a bit thicker and firmer than the high water content soft lenses such as daily disposable ones it is a common complaint with regards to removal that the 'pinch' technique needs to be firmer. There are different types of Silicon hydrogel lenses and it may be a matter of tring one with a different fit or water content.

The discomfort that you have been getting - Is this dryness? The most common daily disposable silicon hydrogel daily disposable lenses made by Sauflon (Clariti)and acuvue (trueye) and it may be that one suits better than the other
I cannot wear silicone lenses, my eyes itch and get all gunged up, appararently I'm allergic to the silicone. I have no trouble with ordinary lenses and have had all types in the last 30 years.
