Went to see me GP(american), with menorrhagia (?sp?) feelin so tired, can sleep 12 hours+ a day and more...GP looked at me lower eyelids, me tongue and me nails n said you don't look anaemic...is this really the way you diagnose it?

Halifax..... .your spelling of menorrhagia is accurate ;-)
All the aspects of your Dr's examination are compatible with a suspicion of a diagnosis of anaemia which your heavy periods may produce as suggested by Jenna.
2 problems:
1) What is causing your heavy bleeding during period times?.
2) Why are you so tired ?

Sounds strange but you could try increasing the magnesium in your diet, 4 squares a day of 70% cocoa solids should do it, I am sure Sqad will say there is no scientific evidence for this but had the same problem when younger and it worked for me.I've recommended it to friends too and they reckon it stops a lot of the PMT symptoms too

To the first question....you need a referral to a gynaecologist.
To the second question..you need blood tests to see if you are anaemic and if so what type of anaemia is present. Also it would be a good idea to test, at the same time, the status of your thyroid gland.
That's it.
