MM Links Solutions August 2009 [Week 5]

Aha! Now I have a toe hold!

This final week in the entertaining reign of Pope Adrian aka twix123 provided good sport in the form of Golf Links. His chosen Link Words were cleverly constructed under the theme of:

The Other Links Game

Pitch BLACK
POTATO Chip
Iron LADY
Bunker HILL

How did the scores pan out?

I cannot recall a game in which the chosen link words going so quickly or the first dozen or so entrants scoring so freely. Once again, the Shrubbery Squad was quick off the blocks with roslyn getting her predictions in by 09.00am which must be close to a record in terms of speed. Her POTATO CHIP won her TWO POINTS, which she generously shared with the irrepressible grannydi. The final challenge had been taken up in robust fashion.

Soon afterwards, Christiana ably supported by miss meg, centrino & Strix began the Battle of BUNKER HILL and each picked up TWO POINTS. At 09.04, Entrant #4 was Aquagility and he recalled how the IRON LADY would be a useful ally in any conflict. His choice had agreement from tearinghair and the fight was on for the September Crown.

The very last link went to the mighty Jools with PITCH BLACK and she was immediately followed by cliffyg with the same link word and claiming the same Two Points. In the midst of all this scoring, ex-champion Grenmus spotted Iron Lady and Bunker Hill for FOUR POINTS, making him HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK!

The game continued in subdued fashion with single hits here and there. Only ChrisHewat managing a double hit. However, with greater glory at stake, how did the monthly totals shape up?

Heading the ex-champions like a shining beacon is tearinghair with a final score into �double figures� and a worthy winner of the August Title, I proclaim tearinghair Royal Setter of the MM Link words throughout the month of September. With grateful thanks to twix123 for a fabulous month, as he exits I welcome his successor. If someone can facilitate contact between myself and tearinghair, it would be greatly appreciated. There will be much to do before the next MM Challenge.
