I use a Yahoo email account and was wondering why I have to put up with an unkempt, smelly looking character every time I sign in. I'm not too clever with regard to advertising but I cant understand how this individual can encourage anyone to use Yahoo.
Is there some marketing angle I'm missing?

My Yahoo account looks ok?..
Sorry Cockney Guy, I don't use Yahoo email, it's a bit quiet on CB tonight so far maybe someone will pick it up later.
I`ve got an advert for a Lexus car. Nothing else.

I've got the lexus car or the gary linekar/Walkers crisps ad
He needs a shave and a haircut and a clean t shirt.
I see what you mean, looks like he's been backpacking around Oz for a few weeks. Could do with a wash and a trim.
all I can see is a pair of security keys
What no guy to the left of that?

Whatever ya like Grandad but no one has come up with the marketing reason for putting a character like that on the page. I note that some people have not gone to the "sign in" and just stayed with the yahoo home page, consequently they are just seeing adverts. If a beautiful girl was on there instead, I could understand the reasoning. Although, come to think of it, we would then be discouraged from moving on so maybe thats the marketing angle :)
