I did that chapstick,I put Ivor Bo******v,f off street,ba****d town,c**tshire.Over the next few weeks my junk mil folder was full of scam emails from everywhere.Do not answer them at all.

i get them too from hsbc whom i am not with , problem with the one i got yesterday is though i am with them and they have just updated their site and changed the way people sign on to their accounts so i did actually think oh sh1t ,as i rely on my online banking ,so guessing other people who use halifax may have thought the same

Me too cherry, get them from 'HSBC' and 'Abbey', neither of which I bank with and are always addressed to- To our valued customer (always a giveaway!) I actually opened one once by mistake and it had lots of spelling mistakes in them! Always just report them as phishing scams in hopes they'll slowly stop!

Just got another one which was delivered to my inbox rather than the junk folder and at first it looked very genuine but it then asked me to go to a link to verify my details, checked the sender compared with the other (genuine) emails I've received from the bank and it was different but similar to the usual subject title of genuie emails so be doubly careful people!

i think its bizarre how many people still fall for this stuff

its easy for us to know all about it and even be weary of it...but many people are rare computer users or novices and simpky have no-one or nothing ot warn them...

i am pretty sure my dad would fall for one of these...it took me ages to convince him that those fake scratchcards you get saying you 'may' have won, if you ring this premiom rate line were a con...he was saving them up! (he is 81 though)

why dont ISP regularly email their users warning of this sort of thing? i know some send occasional ones, but people need more warnings

I probably get several of these emails every week, along with contacts from gentlemen in Namibia and Nigeria offering me large sums of money for laundering various amounts of money ! I wish I had the time and the patience to set up a ficticious e-mail address and string out a long correspondece with them to give them a run for their money!

I also get them from HM Revenue and Cutoms telling me I have a tax rebate.

All I have to do is confirm my bank details for them to put the refund into my account.

I got one from RBS the other day, typed Roayl Bank of Scotland.
