I had fruit salad at a chinese restaurant recently and in it there was this fruit which resembled a big raspberry but it had a brown stone in the middle. I'd love to know what it was because it was delicious. The texture wasnt really like a berry but thats the closest comparison I can make.

Was it a milky white kind of colour? If so it could be a lychee.

Parkhead it was definitely not a lychee. I know those and eat them quite a lot. The actual fruit-not the skin- was red and a completely different texture than that of a lychee. A bit like a big berry but with a fairly large stone in the middle. The fruit could be taken off the stone quite easily.
could it have been a mulberry? http://www.crfg.org/pubs/ff/mulberry.html
Question Author
Might have been a mulberry but do those have big brown shiny stones in the middle? The web link didnt say.
Maybe it was longan? Right colour flesh and right stone in the middle.
