Most innovative music city in Uk

Which city in the Uk has the best music coming out of it? In terms of bands, dj's, clubs, history, diversity, ecclecticness etc?

While London is difficult to beat in terms of bands, clubs and diversity, Bournemouth, in the last few years, has been quickly establishing itself as a fine home for DJs, art-punk, folk, dance and diversity. What it lacks in history and commercial success of its artists it makes up in talent.

I can't speak for the whole country, so I'm sure someone will prove me otherwise but of the places I've lived, I've found Bournemouth to be the most interesting.
