May I thank everyone who has tried, but unfortunately in vain to help me get my Avatar, which has gone on and on, and I am nearly dead on my butt (which has gone numb) wish you all a very good night.

If your avatar is ticked as active on your profile then you must be nearly there.
If on IE you may need to do more than press Control/F5.
To clear your cache do the following:
- log out of Answerbank
-on any internet page select Tools> internet options>delete
-Tick as many boxes as possible- certainly cookies and temporary internet files
-click Delete, wait while it deletes things to clear your cache, then click OKAY.
lWait 5 minutes then log back into AB.

Not working yet.
As I understand it you have done the following
1. you have set up an account on Gravatar using the same email address as you use for Answerbank
2. When on Answerbank you click My Profile then Edit User Details there is a box at the top with a tick in saying "Your avatar is currently active". Presumably though your avatar doesn't appear on there.
3. You have cleared your cache
If that hasn't worked then the only explanation I can see is that your avatar hasn't been set up properly for your email addres at Gravatar.com and the only reason the 'your avatar is active' box is ticked on Answerbank is that you have ticked it but there is no avatar set up on Gravatar to link it to, so you get the default one.
I suggest you email the AB Editor. He has forced through some avatars and may be able to do this for you
