The Israeli navy has boarded the Rachel Corrie aid ship after it ignored orders not to head for Gaza, but no violence has been reported.

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) confirmed troops took control of the vessel by sea with permission from the captain and no helicopters were used.

The Rachel Corrie is now being brought to the southern Israeli port of Ashdod where all goods on board will be inspected before being transferred to Gaza by land, the IDF said.

If you're a casual onlooker who has just woken after a 65 year sleep you could be forgiven for being bemused.

If you're Jewish and/or Israeli, you'll always applaud the actions of the Israeli Defence Force.

If you're Palestinian/Muslim/Arab, you'll demand freedom from the Israeli yoke.

If you're in the American or British governments, you'll pontificate for many years, blow off loads of hot air, and maintain the so called "status quo" in the Middle East, and in particular the Gaza Strip.

If you're a self styled "peace activist", you'll do what these little flotillas have been doing for the past couple of weeks.

If you're me, you'll get thoroughly hacked off hearing about it 24/7.

Hamas can still afford to spend money on weapons..Israels actions are easy to explain.
The destruction of Israel is the aim of most of it's neighbours.

sandy I have read all you postings and I fail to understand your reasoning.
The Germans occupied most of Europe so what do you think they did if anyone revolted ? All over Europe there were resistance groups and the Germans put them down with force. . In the case of Warsaw there was a massive uprising because the Poles thought that the Russian advance would be in Warsaw in a matter of days but the Russians stopped deliberately and let the Germans get on with it . That saved Russian lives and got rid of a lot of Polish dissidents as well , which saved the Russians the trouble later on. Remenber the Russians took over from the Germans in E.Europe.

Well that settled then . There is one little problem : When Israel was founded in 1948 they accepted the UN borders but all the Arab nations demanded the destruction of Israel and attacked on all fronts from Lebanon to Egypt. They expected a quick victory but they got a massive defeat and lost their territories. Since then there has been a further 4 wars and in every case they started with hostile acts by the Arabs.
The six day war started with 100,000 Egyptian troops and 1000 tanks on their common border. In that war there were 19,000 casualties.
Today Hammass and their allies are still demanding the total destruction of Israel.
So Berti do you still think your simple solution will work ?
I am no friend of Israel 4 of my friends were killed by Jewish extremists but I can see
there is no easy answer. On two other occasions I was beaten up by Arabs but I do try to see the two sides of the situation .
I am totally against Israel's settlement policy and I blame America for continuing their unstinted support.
The solution lies with America and the Arab militants .

It's not collateral damage it's collective punishment.
If Gaza isn't occupied how does a foreign country control it's borders?
International law allows people in occupied countries to resist it's occupation.
The pro-Palestine lobby would question the legitimacy of the U.N to allow Israel to be founded in the first place, I'll post a question in S and C with a scenario.
