Cutting out carbs will cause your body to switch metabolic pathways and begin burning fat... especially if you increase your fat intake. This usually happens after 48 hours (the time usually required to finish burning all your glycogen stores) and you should see a reduction in body mass quite quickly.
The plank or crunches (which are better than sit-ups)
Nope not me. Everything went south many years ago and im too lazy to argue with it.
I just wish there was a magic pill we can take!
It sounds a bit simple but if you hold your stomach in when going about your daily business, remembering to breathe properly, (!)and hold the correct posture, you can improve your tummy.
Not trying to get in shape for hols, can never afford to go away lol but I did have a health scare xmas time so decided that it was time to do something.

I was 13 stone and am now about 10 & a half stone and although I wouldn't say I was a big big drinker but looking back i think I liked a drink a bit too much! Anyway I haven't had a touch of alcohol since the second week of January and used the wii fit most days so this helped lose the weight.

I'm doing the Race for Life on the 23rd June so that has given me something to aim for and have started going jogging everyday with my 2 girls. Certainly seen my body tone up since taking it up.

No quick fix unfortunatley and it has been hard getting to the point I'm at and old cliche (sp?) but if I can do it anyone can!
Not me. I'm in pretty good shape anyway (for a beer barrel). [:o)
There are some good answers here !

NoMercy ... yep, cut the carbs (unless you are going to use them for energy)

Molly ... the plank ... Ouch !! (ps. go to school !)

Toni ... yes, keeping a good posture will train your body to look after the muscles that it needs, and to lose the fat that it doesn't.

wingnut ... jogging routine ... good you!

I would only add ...

Think, and feel, energised ... all the time!

Our bodies are quite clever, and they respond to input.

If we think of an image, our brain files it away for us.

(by the way ... do NOT think of an ELEPHANT !!!)

If we jog a lot, our bodies realise that we will probably do it again, and starts to strengthen the useful muscle groups, and break down body fat, which has suddenly become a hinderance.

(nb. Your body fat is NOT a hinderance if you are just on a diet ... so why would your body bother to break it down!)

And if you stand tall ("Walk tall, girls!" our Headmistress used to say, every morning) then your body will start to change itself from a "slouchy, fat" body, into a tall, elegant body.

So ... "Walk tall, girls!"

(and stop thinking about that ELEPHANT !)
