Do I have to use the M62? Or could I use the M65 and cut across? AA routeplanner doesn't understand me and though I know it should be possible I am not convinced.

Preston , sorry lol
Try the rac route planner dot xx
You can get a route from Google maps.

thanks trish i've tried rac and like the AA they want me to travel south on the M6 to pick up the M62, which there is not a cat in hells chance i am going to do, when i go to Hebden I always go on the M65 and get off at Burnley near the crem. It looks possible to get across to barkisland and ripponden from there, and i want t call in Elland too,
I'll look at google maps too
Question Author
google maps give the same route : (
You can change the route that Google maps gives you. You don't have to follow their route. Just drag and drop the blue line on the map until you get the route that you want.

thanks bookbinder I've done that and it is 42.7 miles in 52 minutes with the AA and RAC route but in the google maps i changed the route to use the M65 via Burnley, Hebden and Luddenden Foot, a route i know well to that point, and it is 39.8 miles in 1hr 9mins, that avoids the M62 and is the lovely scenic route passing my birth place!!! Looking god, thanks !
I trick the AA route Planner sometimes by adding a via that forces it to change the routing to one I want. For example in your case go via a certain junction on the M65.

aHHH, yes they wil all let you move the blue line! I can't understand why they are nt programmed t send me the shortest route, seems odd.
