New and strange things are happening to me
10 Answers
Following from my earlier posts (regarding depression and menorrhagia), I have now begun to get patchy alopecia (about inch-size circlular patches) and my GP has rung me today telling me that I have an abnormal blood clotting condition - she is referring me to my local haematology consultant. Apparently this came up in a blood test last year, but no-one told me. She says this may well affect the possibility of having a hysterectomy (does this mean they won't do one?)
She was also surprised my iron count was so low as I take multi-vits with iron every day. Again, this was from a blood test last year but no follow-up was taken by the doc. Also, my endometrial ablation did not work - I am now back having periods exactly the same as before (I had it in Feb this year).
My question is - are all these things related or am I just a great big mess?
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Had v heavy periods lasting around 10 days every 28 days since age 16, I'm now 40. They are uncontrollable - can't go anywhere unless I can get to a loo in seconds. Sorry if this is too much information! No medication works, so had the endo-ablation but that didn't work. I want a hysterectomy as I'm so tired of it all now. What does the blood clotting thing mean?

Well, it seems that you are a "great big mess" at the moment, but nothing that cannot be sorted and treated.
Your heavy periods and abnormal clotting are almost certainly related and once treated may ease you menorrhagia and that may alleviate the need for a hysterectomy. However if you want/ need a hysterectomy it will be safe to proceed with the blood disorder identified.
I can think of no reason to associate your alopecia with your blood disorder.
If the abnormality had shown up a year ago and you were not informed, then it could not have been serious.
The key to your whole medical condition lies with the diagnosis after seeing the Haematologist who will need further blood tests. Don't Google "abnormalities of clotting" as you will confuse and probably scare yourself. Most of these are not life threatening and are easily treated.
The alopecia MAY be due to your anxiety.
Don't worry.

Really don't worry about the alopecia, my daughter was depressed a few years ago and lost small circles and a larger patch of hair at the back of head but it grew back again.
She has been in a stressful situation recently and has again lost a patch or two but she has now taken herself out of the situation and she is certain that the hair will start to grow back as soon as she is more settled.
