Are there still street newspaper sellers, the ones who used to sell from a small stand, and whose advertising cries were mostly incoherent? The one that springs to mind is the one who used to stand outside the Southern Daily Echo offices, whose call sounded EXACTLY like the rude word for your sitting down bit, but was actually shouting 'Evening Echo!'.

In Belfast it's now almost exclusively a job for Romanians. In London there are lots of people giving away free news sheets.
They have news stands in London, with men standing by them, and instead of selling the Evening Standard they are giving it away. Why are the men standing there at all ?
we have them in lincoln sellimg the local paper.
Where I live you cannot get a newspaper delivered. Does anyone else find this.
there are loads in and around birmingham, cannot understand then, when I was younger I used to mimic them :o
there's one near where I work, a little wooden kiosk, when the guy goes for his break into greggs he leaves an honesty box.
