The 1966 World Cup Final? I watched it in the local miners welfare, standing room only and eight TV's stood on stools, on tables,scattered around the room t(here were no big screens and colour tellies back then) the atmosphere was electric and when we heard those immortal words "they think it's all over , it is now" the roar was that loud they heard it at the other end of the street.

I wasn't born until 4 years later, which was also a world cup year, but as we lost that year, and every year ever since, I can't imagine it was all that memorable.

And yet - I do remember the song 'Back Home'. My football mad Brother David was 9 at the time so he must have had it on repeat.....

cerainly do paddy and it was such a brilliant time - before players became so much bigger than their boots! Alf Ramsey was the epitome of a true gent. The sheer joy of the victors' parade around the pitch was a delight. Dear old Kenneth Wolstenholme.It was like it was yesterday - but unfortunately not like tomorrow! I also remember the 'buy British' campaign <<<sigh>>>

you lucky so and so steve the feeling was fantastic just watching it on TV to be able to say you were actuall there must be something really special. What happened in 77 was it your wedding?

I was nearly 11 and very much a part of a footballing family at home, I didn't realise that they had played in Red Shirts until the film Goal! came out, that's a film they should show now,
