Please can anybody recommend a good cleaning subtance for ovens, hobs etc.? Those I've tried (the apply, leave for 20 minutes then wipe off type) just don't work.

Oven Mate from Lakeland
I used Oven Pride on mine and it did a fantastic job. Well worth the money. Be very careful not to spill any on your floor or worktops though.
Personally, I don't like anything which is toxic or cleaning products that are damaging if they come into contact with kitchen surfaces. Hence the reason for my using ASTONISH... o.k. it may need a little 'elbow grease' in its application, but it is the only abrasive product which I know that can be applied to any surface.

Do you know if elbow grease can be ordered online? Is it very greasy?
I'm not too sure society if you can get it 'on-line' but your local Pharmacy should be able to suggest something for tennis elbow and that might assist matters.!!! lol.

Ron.
For burnt on grease on oven shelves, place in a dustbin bag, pour in a std.bottle of ammonia, tie the bag top & leave in a shed or outhouse overnight.
Take out of bag carefully & wash with clean warm water - result? cheap & sparkling clean. Flush ammonia down the drain with plenty of cold water.
Do wear rubber gloves & preferably a simple nose/mouth mask against fumes.
