presumably on the phone, how do either side know they are actually talking to each other? I mean It could be Rory Bremner! Do they have some sort of agreed code?

But I expect there's a hot line
Slighly off topic, but I was thinking the same when the England manager was phoing up each England player to say who was in and out of the World Cup squad.

Do they have some sort of keyword or password?

How do you know you are taking to the England manager and not just some DJ off a radio station.
In the past sometimes they don't, radio presenters have pretended to be an MP colleague and the person on the other end has been entirely indiscreet. I feel sure that between No.10 and the White House there must be some scrambling devices and security measures. Well, I hope so.
Do you think Obama will take the oppurtunity to advise Cameron of the date , when they will be going into Iran.
well, I am not sure what will be said but if Obama says 'jump' I do hope Cam won't ask 'how high?'
No I Don . He's not Blair. But then he's no Rottweiler either.
I thought they used video conferencing which makes more sense as you can actually see who you are speaking to.
it can happen (2) - but maybe not today

"Rory Bremner has come clean about a stunt phone call in which he made Margaret Beckett think he was Gordon Brown.

It was similar to the trick I played on Tony Blair in 1998 when I worked at London's Capital Radio.Blair was leaving his morning briefing when I called the Downing Street switchboard at 8.35am. Jon Culshaw, the impressionist, pretended to be the then Conservative leader, and offered the prime minister a Cher exercise video"
