What's in a name?

I've seen it all now......just being doing some genealogy research and found a family in the 1901 census with several children, with names Fern, Daisy, and Vine...........their surname was Leaf.

I couldnt believe it when I discovered one of our ancestors Easter Liddy Watson married a Mr Christmas, hence it came up on the next census as Easter Christmas. I found out later it had been transcribed incorrectly and should have been Esther. I have to laugh at some of the weird names Ive found. I tried to convince my husband that his descendant was called Annish...

They did have a sense of humour back in those days then?

I once interviewed someone called Louise Trees - unfortunate!

This family are just weird......the have a boy called Adams (not Adam)

The father was just called James.....his 2 wives were Annie and Margaret but the names must have been his idea as they continued through the 2 marriages.

I can't take anymore......he has called 2 of his sons Adonis and Nolana.
My birth name was Trina Woods....

I went to school with a girl called Hellen (Hell on) Highwater......I met her years later she told me she'd married and I wasn't to laugh at her new surname - Flood!
