Dog muzzles? How long?

My neighbour has two dogs that are either kept in or out all day. She is back at random times or not at all (more often not at all) during the day. Recently someone complained about the dogs constant barking (not me but I was sorely tempted!). Consequently I've just discovered that the reason they have been so quiet these last couple of days is because they are wearing muzzles, obviously all day! What is the feeling - or legal ramifications - about keeping dogs muzzled in this way? My thanks in advance.

3, My mam brings him out around 6am, I brought him out at 12 then i brought him out just about hour ago maybe.. He'll get about 2 more I'd say..

I would report it KRUSTYMAN. It needs investigating and it is darnright call. Why do these people keep dogs if they are out most of the time.

4-get. Do you think all animals and humans too should be constrained in some way every time they go out, so they can't bite, use weapons, etc. etc. Come to think of it though................................. We only hear of the few dogs that have bitten, not the thousands and thousands of dogs that have never bitten anybody in their life. Very much to do with ownership.

However, I do think that all dogs should be on leads in towns. I really do get annoyed when people walk through towns with a loose dog and then say 'well he never leaves my side and is well trained'!.

I also think children should be trained not to rush up to strange dogs and stroke them.

those poor dogs, out in the heat of today without being able to pant (that's how they sweat) or drink.

I would report it to your local dog warden. They work with the Environmental Health Dept. of the council and they are best placed to know the background regarding the complaints about the dogs barking.

They will be able to talk to the owners and show them alternatives (like training, dog day care etc.).

They are usually far better than the RSPCA and they will try and work with the owners rather than against them.

Maybe the owners think for some reason that the dogs could not be rehomed (they may be old, difficult etc.) and they could be faced with the choice of either shut the dogs up or have them destroyed.

If that is the only choice then maybe that is why they have chosen to muzzle the dogs.

I would not condone it but I could understand it.

If any of us was faced with that choice (muzzle or kill your pet) what would any of us do?

well I have heard people watch some girly fights uptown and say 'she should be muzzled' lol They are put on a lead for a reason. So do you think all animals and humans should be put on leads. I just think it would be a good idea.

loftie there is a bloke in town that never has his staffy on a lead. And the man in wheelchair that walks(??) his rotweiler everyday

those dogs could be really ill by the weekend if this warm weather keeps up!!!

doubt they will have the energy to raise whimper let alone a bark!
