I too dislike piercings but accept that it is the choice of the individual if they want to mutilate their body. It really p****s me off to see babies & toddlers with their ears pierced - and I have seen a toddler with a mutilated ear where a sleeper was ripped out by another toddler. Yuk. Why don't the moronic parents who have their children's ears pierced go the whole hog and take their baby to a tattoo shop at the same time and have a football club logo tattooed on their infant? Grrrrrrr.
Rant over. I will go lie down in a darkened room with a stiff drink now.
i agree wholeheartedly with thikasabrik. i have my ears peirced, but my dad wouldnt allow it until i was fourteen. i'm taking my eight year old sister to have hers done this week. but i STRONGLY dislike seeing little toddlers and babies with their ears pierced. they are far too young to understand a decision like that. i get very angry when i see it and i will never allow it with my kids. my sister has had conversations with myself, mum, her dad and our other sister who have all explained to her that it's for life, and that it's going to hurt and she's spoken to us enough to prove to us that she understands all that. toddlers and babies dont! it's barbaric.
sorry for ranting. i too will go lie down with a stiff drink. perhaps with thikasabrik? we could share a drink.
Ooooh, I hate seeing babies with hoops in their ears. I once saw a baby boy with a hoop in his ear and I thought he is either going to rip his ear off whilst playing or he's gonna get bullied at school.
A friend of mine had her ears pierced when she was a baby. She took the earrings out when she was 11 and let the holes close up as a protest because her mother had 'mutilated' her without her consent.
