computer building

I have a working pc that has become a bit slow, so I bought a system with more memory etc, now I want to combine the good bits from each pc into one better one, but I don't want to ruin anything. I have swapped components before in another pc and it worked ok, but I don't want to get muddled etc - anyone know of a site with step by step instructions of how i can do this?
thanks in advance

It is a good guide, and deals with compatibility issues etc. The main thing to check when you are swapping components around is that they are compatible. Your new system is likely to have newer versions of everything in your old one, so there may not be much point to swapping, as mattie says.
heres a really good site. www.buildyourown.org.uk it teaches you step-by-step on how to install all components. hope this helps.
