It will cost E80 in the Post Office. Any of the freight companies only seem to take much larger packages. It is only books (mostly childrens's ) that have been left behind due to baggage restrictions.
Any suggestions appreciated.

You've looked at An Post's normal international parcel rates but there are reduced rates for sending books abroad. Split your package into 5kg + 4kg and you'll pay €20 + €17 = €37
